Key Teaching Points:

  1. 1. Engage the core before initiating any movement.
  2. 2. Elbows face back, not out, to protect the elbow and shoulder joint.
  3. 3. Breathe into the back of the rib cage to maintain core pressure without flaring ribs.

Regression:

Use a 4-point bear plank hold for a static duration before adding any limb movement.

Progression:

Add a resistance band around the ankles or wrists. Progress to a moving bear crawl variation.

Common Problems:

Collapsing into the supporting shoulder — press the floor away actively.
