Exercise Types:
Lower Step, Dynamic
Contraindications:
None
Equipment:
Floor Based, Low Bands
Applicability:
Focus
Superset?:
No
Sprint-able?:
Yes

Key Teaching Points:

  1. 1. Back knee lowers with control — tap the floor gently, do not crash.
  2. 2. Push the knee out on the descent to ensure it tracks over the toe.
  3. 3. The standing leg stays engaged even when it is the recovery leg.
  4. 4. End range is where the real work happens — do not shy away from it.

Regression:

Reduce stride length or use a TRX or wall for balance assistance. Perform a reverse lunge on the spot before adding forward movement.

Progression:

Add a loaded carry in the opposite hand to create an offset stability challenge.

Common Problems:

Front knee traveling too far forward — cue a big step and emphasis on the vertical shin.
