Key Teaching Points:
- 1. Imagine the spine as a fixed axis — rotation happens around it, not along it.
- 2. Breathe consistently — match breathing to movement rhythm.
- 3. Keep the lower half stable while the upper body rotates — or vice versa depending on the drill.
- 4. Avoid compensation patterns; if form breaks, address the limiting factor.
Regression:
Reduce the load or lever arm. Perform seated to remove the standing stability demand.
Progression:
Add a plyometric or power element — rotational med ball throw — once strength is established.
Common Problems:
One arm going slack mid-rotation — keep both arms engaged on the implement throughout.
